ASL WORKSHOP

Always wanted to learn American Sign Language? Here is your chance to pick up a few signs with friends over beer.
For this special seasonal ASL class, we’ll learn some basic conversational signs, along with special sweetheart signs to express your adoration for all those deserving of love in your life.
And of course – BEER!
Summer 2025
Copper Ale – 8% abv
A floral American Imperial Red Ale. Mashed with a Bourbon-like grist of malted corn, wheat and barley, aroma and dry hopped with Sonnet hops.
Bison Buff Ale – 4.25% abv
A low IBU pre-prohibition style cream ale. lightly dry hopped with citra and vista hops. Brewer’s answer to “what’s the lightest beer y’all got?”
Buff’d Copper Ale – 6% abv
When customers tell you to combine your two best sellers into one – you do it! Can’t decide between the Copper Ale or the Bison Buff? Give this American pale ale a try.
Bison Blue Ale – 4.25% abv
This soft, juicy ale is double-dry hopped with Citra and Vista hops. Delicate, well-balanced, thirst-quenching.
Black Diamond Bison Stout – 7% abv
A full-bodied stout boasting toasty and roasty notes complemented by rich flavors of coffee, caramel, and bitter chocolate.
Pawnmate Dark Ale – 7% abv
Looking for dark and heavy? This is it. Dry hopped with whole cone Chinook hop, this is malty and hoppy midnight ale is bold and satisfying.
Red Ale – 5% abv
A ruby-hued brew with rich roasted malt, smooth toffee notes, and a balanced malty bitterness. Full-bodied and flavorful.
Old Rag Barleywine – 11.5%
Conditioned in a brandy barrel from Rappahannock County’s Didas Distillery, this bold, rich treat develops flavors of dark fruits and holiday spice.
ASL Slam – 6.0%
Brewed to celebrate 20 years of expressive artistry, ASL SLAM is a juicy, hazy IPA bursting with the bold citrus and tropical notes of Citra hops. With a soft mouthfeel and smooth finish, this beer delivers all the flavor with a gentle bitterness. A tribute to the Deaf and signing community’s vibrant performances in poetry, storytelling, and art—all shared in the beauty of American Sign Language.
‘Off the Grid Hermit’ IPA – 6.5% abv
Going against the grain with this one. Brewed with malted corn, red wheat, and Virginia Pilsner from Murphy and Rude Malting in Charlottesville. Smell the wildflowers and taste the hops.
‘Yeah Pah’ West Coast IPA – 7.2% abv
This is one to celebrate! A crisp and classic West Coast IPA, bursting with bright citrus and piney hop notes, balanced by a clean malt backbone.
‘ILY’ Hazy IPA – 6.5% abv
What’s not to LOVE about this sweet IPA. Affectionately dry hopped with BRU-1 and Sabro to deliver an aroma of freshly cut pineapple and coconut.
‘Tru Biz’ DIPA – 9% abv
This is the orangina double IPA of your dreams – Tru Biz! Light, fruity, Citra hopped. Hold the bitter, save the flavor. We mean biz with this one.
Deaf Mosaic IPA – 7.8% abv
Have you seen ‘Deaf Mosaic?’ If not, we encourage you to look up the Emmy Award-winning 80s show while you enjoy this hearty, triple-hopped double IPA. But don’t get it wrong, while the hops are strong with this one, it goes down smooth and fast.
Joey the Fourth DIPA – 9% abv
Joey the Fourth pays homage to a classic favorite with a sticky, pithy edge and a pugnacious spirit. Brewed for his 50th, this beer channels a rich heritage and sharp character.
Passionfruit Sour – 6% abv
A simple, refreshing American sour ale fruited with a light passionfruit puree. You can drink this one all day. For those who think they don’t like beer – this one is for you.
‘Accept Hard’ Sour – 6% abv
A healthy kick of blackberry and pomegranate to appease the sour palate. Stronger, but certainly not hard to accept.
Peach Hard Kombucha – 6.5% abv
A bright and refreshing blend of sun-ripened peach, this gluten-free hard kombucha delivers a crisp, tropical finish that’s light, juicy, and endlessly drinkable. [gluten free]
A VISONARY LEADER
George Veditz was an activist and educator in the Deaf community, who ultimately changed the course of history for those who use American Sign Language. If we could choose anyone in history to join us for a beer today, it would be this visionary leader.
